Voicing concern over bad condition of roads in the Ponda town and inadequate medical facilities at the recently reopened Sub-District Hospital (SDH), MGP Ponda leader Ketan Bhatikar and a party member Viraj Sapre threatened to agitate if government fails to resolve the issues by January 14.
Bhatikar said that they want the roads in Ponda to be repaired and also want medical facilities at SDH Ponda to be improved as assured by government or else they will agitate against the government.
Bhatikar and Sapre said that roads in and around Ponda town are being dug up once again for the work on sewerage network and moving in Ponda has become difficult.
“Work on sewerage network is going on for the last four years in Ponda and has left the people of Ponda in distress. It is high time, the government completed the STP work and provided better roads to Ponda people,” Viraj Sapre said.
Secondly, facilities at SDH Ponda haven’t improved as assured by government, the MGP Ponda leader claimed.
“After converting the SDH Ponda into COVID hospital, Minister Govind Gaude alongwith medical superintendent Vikas Kuvelkar had assured Ponda people that facilities at the SDH Ponda will be improved. The government has failed to provide the facilities and each time Ponda people have to visit Goa Medical College, Bambolim for better medical care despite of having such huge hospital in Ponda, he said.
“Taking note of the same, MGP Ponda has decided to stage an agitation in Ponda wherein we have invited like-minded people from several other political parties to join hands for the development of Ponda on January 15, if government fails to resolve the issues by January 14,” Sapre said.
