Cabbies protest near Lobo’s residence over GoaMiles issue


Parra: A large number of taxi drivers on Thursday staged a protest by squatting on the road leading to the house of Minister for Ports Michael Lobo and demanded scrapping of GoaMiles app in Goa.

In the morning a large number of taxi drivers from Siolim, Morjim, and other places turned up near the residence of Lobo and sat on the road blocking the entrance to the house.

Mapusa police were called but no one was arrested.

Minister for Ports Lobo said that he is with the taxi drivers over their genuine issue adding, “I had invited them for discussing their problem but they sat and blocked the entrance to my house.”

Lobo further said “Taxi meters have to be installed but the rate has to be notified. I will take up the issue of GoaMiles app.”
