Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday held a meeting with mining firms, discussing various options for resuming mining.
Sawant told media persons after the meeting that discussions were held on various options to restart mining operations.
“Next meeting will be held in Delhi in 10 days’ time to take a call,” he added.
Faced with the prospects of mines auction, the iron ore firms reacted cautiously.
The Goa Mineral Ore Exporters Association said that it will await joint meeting between all stakeholders before reacting to the Chief Minister’s statement.
“We are awaiting a joint meeting being scheduled by the Union of India with the state government and the industry in order to find a legally prudent solution, considering legal and technical aspects of Goa mining,” said a press statement released by the exporters body.
