Panaji: Director General of Police (DGP) Mukesh Kumar Meena recently held a meeting with Inspector General (operations) of the National Security Guard (NSG) V S Ranade to discuss strengthening of the state’s anti-terror and security protocols. The meet was conducted at the police headquarters in the city.

NSG, the country’s elite contingency force, will be conducting an anti-terror exercise along with Goa police in the next month, informed a senior police officer. As part of the exercise, a mock drill will be conducted by the NSG along with Goa police teams. The senior police officer said various aspects related to security measures as well as anti-terror were discussed during the meeting.

It is learnt that Goa police will also seek the assistance of NSG for the commando training to be provided in the state.

The Goa police had recently decided to set up a commando training facility at the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRBn) camp at Nanoda-Valpoi. At this facility, commando training will be provided to the police personnel from Goa police as well as IRBn. Once trained, the commandos will be deployed in the districts.

Currently there are commandos in the Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) of the Goa police and they were trained outside Goa.
