“The first formative/ summative examination or first term exam for class I to class IX should be held by January 15, 2021, while the second formative/ summative examination or second term exam for these classes should be held by last week of April 2021,” the circular issued by the director of education stated.

The DoE also made it clear that all these exams will have to be conducted in offline mode by strictly following COVID-related guidelines.
The circular also states that the schools will be free to do the fresh assessment as per these timings, even if it is already done.
“In view of COVID-19 pandemic situation, some of the schools had difficulties in online teaching due to poor internet connectivity, while some schools have done regular assessment of the students either online or offline,” the circular observed, stating that the scheme of assessment is being implemented by the State Council of Educational Research and Training/ Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.
“Some of the schools may require additional time where either assessment was done partially or not done at all. Hence, in order to avoid the academic loss of the students, the schedule of the assessment from class I to class XII has been detailed, so as to prepare academic results by first week of May 2021, for all classes excluding SSC and HSSC,” the circular notes.
Meanwhile, the department of education has moved a proposal to the government for its approval to hold the SSC and HSSC the examination in April/ May, 2021.
The DoE wants the HSSC exam to begin from April 15, 2021 while SSC exams to commence from second week of May 2021, so that both these exams end before the start of the monsoon.
The Goa Board along with the education department is expected to hold meetings with the state headmasters’ association as well as the state principals’ association, before finalising these dates.
