Goa police said that they will ensure proper security to the assistant professor Shilpa Singh against whom the Panaji police earlier this month had registered FIR on charges of allegedly outraging religious feelings through her post on a social media
platform.

Director General of Police (DGP) Mukesh Kumar Meena during an interaction with the media said that the police have received request and added that they will ensure that nothing happens to the assistant professor.

He said that “we will talk to the concerned stakeholders. I have already told my officers to talk to students and concerned
persons.”

He said that the police will ensure that proper security is provided to the assistant professor.

It may be recalled that earlier this month while an FIR was registered against Singh based on complaint filed by Rajiv Jha, the police had also registered FIR against Jha based on the complaint
filed by Singh.

Referring to the complaint, the police said that Jha posted abusive and derogatory comment on a personal post of the complainant. Jha also shared screenshots of complainant’s post thereby defaming her and invited other social media users to make derogatory comments which are physically threatening
in nature.
