Permission granted to block one lane of MDR passing through GU campus


Panaji: North Goa District Magistrate, in a press note, has said that permission has been granted to the officiating Registrar, Goa University, Taleigao plateau, to block one lane of the four lane MDR passing through Goa University campus for road cutting work and repairing of pipeline on November 21-22, subject to the following conditions: a) the normal flow of the vehicular traffic on the parallel and surrounding roads should not be obstructed, b) sufficient traffic signages/directions should be erected at all the diversion points for the information of motorists, c) material used for barricading the road should be painted/pasted with fluorescent paint/tape for illuminating the same during the night time, d) notice to all concerned and proper publicity in press/media be given regarding closure/diversion of the road for the information of motorists and residents etc, e) wherever road cutting is taken up, the work should be carried out on half portion of the road at a time to allow normal vehicular flow on remaining portion of the road, f) the site should be adequately illuminated for clear visibility, g) the contractor should depute traffic marshals on the either side to regulate/divert traffic, h) the road should be properly resurfaced and asphalted soon after the work is completed and it should be ensured that no debris is left, i) the work should be completed within stipulated time, j) material used for barricading of road should be removed immediately and the road should be thrown open for vehicular flow as soon as the work is completed, k) NOC from concerned police station should be obtained, l) prior permission from all competent authorities should be obtained, m) the permission is subject to cancellation/revocation at any moment.
