Perpetual Succour Convent High School, Navelim celebrated the 145th birth anniversary of Vallabhbhai Jhaverbhai Patel, also known as the Iron Man of India.
The day commenced by invoking God’s blessings through a meaningful prayer service. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was remembered as the ‘Unifier of India’ and the importance of the day was highlighted so as to remain united. The pledge ceremony was held in keeping with COVID-19 precautionary norms. The pledge was made virtually available to the students on the school YouTube channel.
Headmistress sister Liberata Fernandes addressed the gathering and urged them to stay united. A unity march was held on the school campus to signify the need for unity.
Former teacher of the school, Swatantra Sinha virtually highlighted the magnitude of the day in Hindi and student Snyren D’costa dressed up and spoke as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Offline activities were structured for students. They were asked to dress up as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel
and about on him. There were various activities organised such as bouquet making of locally available flowers or paper flowers, poster making, poem writing on ‘Unity in Diversity’ and quiz competition.
