Margao MLA and Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat celebrated ‘Deepotsav’ by illuminating 20 four-arm streetlights in his constituency, reiterating his stand on development of Margao.
Around 20 four-arm streetlights were commissioned at Aquem, Power House, near ESI Hospital, Sirvodem, Colmorod, Pedda, Monte Hill, near district library and other areas on the eve of Diwali.
Speaking on the occasion, Kamat said, “The development of Margao is my prime focus and I have tried my level best to ensure that every ward in my constituency gets all basic amenities. I am thankful to the residents of Margao who have come forward to support development.”
He recalled how residents willingly volunteered to set up CCTV cameras to ensure better safety in their localities.
“The residents and shop owners in Margao have always volunteered when it comes to development of the town. The CCTV cameras were recently re-commissioned with the help of power connections provided by the locals. Residents of Aquem parted away with their land for road widening, many other residents gave part of their own land for construction of drains. It is with the support of the locals that Margao is progressing,” he added.
Local councillors Dorris Texeira, Deepa Shirodkar, Avinash Shirodkar, former councillor Damodar Shirodkar, Dr Diwakar Lolienkar, Dr Deepak Lawande, Agnelo Fernandes, Shaikh Munna, Shivanand Rane, Mathew Fernandes, Suhas Pai Angle, Arun Prabhudessai, Sister Xaverita Fernandes, Sister Apolina, Headmistress of St Joseph Convent Sr Maria were also present at the event.
