The state-level task force constituted for the smooth implementation of National Education Policy 2020 under the chairmanship of MLA and educationist Subhash Shirodkar will submit a report in next four months to the government.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and chairman of state-level task force on elementary and secondary education Subhash Shirodkar held a meeting via video conferencing with the members on Friday.
Sawant said that the policy aims to transform the framework of elementary education to higher education as well vocational training which will facilitate integral and holistic development of the students.
The Chief Minister told the reporters that the government has asked the task force to submit its report by February 2020 after consulting and taking suggestions from the stakeholders on implementation of National Education Policy.
He said that the state government intends to implement the National Education Policy from the academic year 2021-22 in the state.
After emerging from the meeting, Shirodkar told the media that the task force headed by him has begun consultations with the stakeholders of the education sector.
“We will submit our report to the government in the next four months. We have decided to constitute sub-committees on elementary education, secondary education, vocational education etc, which will hold consultation with the different stakeholders from the education sector,” he said.
Shirodkar added that as the new National Education Policy aims at transforming the education sector in the entire country, we need to deliberate on various aspects.
“As the secondary education would be from Std IX to Std XII as per the policy, the upgradation of infrastructure in educational institutions is needed. We will take views and suggestions from the stakeholders and make recommendations in the report accordingly,” he said.
