524 fresh cases take COVID tally to 33,942

Panaji: Goa reported 524 new COVID-19 positive cases on Thursday, thereby taking the number of confirmed cases in the state

to 33,942. At the same time, 400 more people, who had tested positive for COVID-19, have defeated the dreaded disease.

As per the media bulletin released by the directorate of health services on Thursday, with fresh 524 people getting infected with coronavirus, the number of active COVID-19 positive cases mounted to 4,977 in the state.

With recovery rate of 84.04 per cent, so far 28,525 patients have recovered from the dreaded infection.

On Thursday 2,096 swab samples were tested by the state.

At the same time, 303 asymptomatic positive people have opted for home isolation and only 71 symptomatic patients were hospitalised in the last 24 hours.

The death toll linked to COVID-19 pandemic reached 440 as 12 more patients succumbed to deadly disease in Goa.

The active positive cases in the jurisdiction of the urban health centres include 352 in Margao, 289 in Vasco, 281 in Panaji and 261 in Mapusa.

Among the community health centres, Sankhali has 298 active cases, Bicholim has 189 active cases, Pernem has 67 cases, Valpoi has 151 cases, Curchorem has 89 cases and Canacona has 136 cases in its jurisdiction.

The active positive cases in the jurisdictions of the primary health centres in North Goa include Porvorim (315), Aldona (115), Betki (102), Candolim (151), Cansarvanem (57), Colvale (84), Corlim (204), Chimbel (191), Siolim (213) and Mayem (52).

Active positive cases in South Goa include Balli PHC (63), Cansaulim PHC (119), Chinchinim PHC (62), Cortalim PHC (228), Curtorim PHC (69), Loutolim PHC (78), Marcaim PHC (58), Quepem PHC (70), Sanguem PHC (103), Shiroda PHC (36), Dharbandora PHC (98), Ponda PHC (211) and Navelim PHC (82) in

its jurisdictions.

Three persons who travelled from the outside Goa are also among active COVID-19 positive cases in the state.

The health bulletin also stated that in North Goa out of total bed capacity of 545 currently 228 are vacant and in South Goa out of 1,006 beds, 612 are vacant in various COVID

care centres.
