Melauli villagers have rejected the views and the solution offered by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on the proposed IIT project in their village.

Speaking to media persons on Monday after a delegation met the Chief Minister, the villagers said they do not agree with the solution proposed by Sawant.

“We had asked the Chief Minister to transfer the lands owned by us in our names. We do not accept relocation to any other place nor the option of compensation,” said the villagers.

They also said that henceforth no representations will meet the government; instead the Chief Minister or his representatives will have to visit Melauli village and clear the doubts in the minds of the villagers. “We will not allow the project to come up at the site,” the villagers asserted.

The main demand of the villagers was that the government redress the land issue of the entire Sattari taluka along with the Melauli village.
