Panaji: Goa on Thursday witnessed yet another surge of 644 fresh COVID-19 cases. With this surge, the tally of confirmed cases in the state reached 26,783.
As per the health bulletin released by the directorate of health services (DHS), the current active cases in the state stand at 5,612.
A total of 399 more patients recovered from the dreaded infection in the last 24 hours. At the same time, the death count linked to COVID-19 reached 327 with eight more deaths registered in the last 24 hours.
As of date, out of the 26,783 confirmed cases, 20,844 patients have recovered from the infection, taking the recovery rate to 77.82 per cent in the state.
With 356, the number of home isolation patients now stands at 10,929. Another 202 new patients, infected with the virus on Thursday, have been hospitalised in Goa. The state also tested 1,925 samples on Thursday.
A majority of the active COVID-19 cases in Goa fall under the jurisdiction of urban health centre of Margao with 447 cases, followed by community health centre Sankhali with 403 cases, while UHC Vasco has 354 cases. The other urban health centres include Panaji (341) and Mapusa (209).
The other CHCs from where the cases are emerging are Bicholim (236), Pernem (223), Valpoi (257), Curchorem (96) and Canacona (86).
The COVID cases are also surfacing from the jurisdictions of PHCs that include Aldona (137), Betki (119), Candolim (172), Cansarvanem (96), Colvale (96), Corlim (144), Chimbel (209), Siolim (131), Porvorim (321), Mayem (75), Balli (32), Cansaulim (128), Chinchinim (29), Cortalim (219), Curtorim (49), Loutolim (113), Marcaim (138), Quepem (109), Sanguem (85), Shiroda (34), Dharbandora (114), Ponda (336) and Navelim (69).
