Panaji: Eight more persons in the state succumbed to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the death count related to the dreaded virus to 327. With these eight new deaths, the number of fatalities associated with COVID in the month of September reached 135.
As per the mortality bulletin issued by the Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim on Thursday, a 65-year-old female from Taleigao, an 88-year-old male from Sangolda, an 85-year-old female from Porvorim, a 45-year-old male from Canca Verla, an 80-year-old male from Bicholim, a 57-year-old male from Caranzalem, a 77-year-old male from Curtorim and a 60-year-old male from Cansaulim in Salcete died in the last 24 hours.
Out of the eight fatalities, six patients died in Goa Medical College and two in the COVID hospital in Margao. Two patients lost the battle to the dreaded virus in less than 12 hours.
As per the mortality bulletin, the most common pre-existing co-morbid illnesses among the victims were diabetes mellitus and hypertension.
