Panaji: Goa continues to report a surge in new cases of COVID-19, with 613 more persons testing positive for the virus on Tuesday, taking the tally of confirmed cases in the state to above the 25,000-mark. Around 446 patients recovered from the disease on Tuesday.
With this surge in cases and recoveries, the confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Goa currently stand at 25,511 of which 5,102 are active, while 20,094 patients have defeated the deadly virus. Till date, the state has reported 315 deaths linked to the deadly disease. The current recovery rate in Goa is 78.76 per cent.
On Tuesday, around 434 asymptomatic COVID patients opted for home isolation; so far, a total of 10,297 patients have availed the option of home isolation.
According to the directorate of health services (DHS), the 5,102 active cases include six persons, who travelled to Goa from outside by road, rail and air.
A majority of the active COVID-19 cases in Goa fall under the jurisdiction of urban health centre of Margao with 402 cases, community health centre Sankhali has 332 cases, while primary health centre of Porvorim has 314 cases within its
jurisdiction. The other CHCs from where the cases are emerging are Bicholim (235), Pernem (217), Valpoi (225), Curchorem (79) and Canacona (78). The other UHCs include Mapusa (192), Panaji (290) and Vasco (286).
The COVID cases are also surfacing from the jurisdictions of PHCs that include Aldona (155), Betki (107), Candolim (151), Cansarvanem (105), Colvale (105), Corlim (124), Chimbel (182), Siolim (123), Mayem (59), Balli (28), Cansaulim (125), Chinchinim (36), Cortalim (183), Curtorim (54), Loutolim (101), Marcaim (104), Quepem (103), Sanguem (75), Shiroda (43), Dharbandora (99), Ponda (306) and Navelim (78).
