27 COVID cases in city


Panaji: The city, on Tuesday, registered 27 corona positive cases within its jurisdiction and some of these include symptomatic and asymptomatic patients, informed mayor Uday Madkaikar.

Speaking to this daily, Madkaikar appealed to the citizens to take the pandemic seriously since the number of COVID deaths was rising in the state.

Citizens need to take safety protocols seriously to keep the virus at bay, he said.

“Out of the 27 positive cases, 18 are males and nine are females and they are from different areas of Panaji constituency like Fondvem-Ribandar to Caranzalem and from Altinho-Panaji to Campal and Miramar,” he stated.

“Three persons from Fondvem-Ribandar  a 16-year-old teenager, a 21-year-old male and a 67-year-old male have tested positive for coronavirus; while two persons – a 42-year-old and 72-year-old, both residents of Altinho-Panaji, have tested positive for the virus,” he informed.

“An 18-year-old teenager and a 57-year-old male residing at Rambhuvan wada and two persons residing at Altinho-Panaji have also tested positive for the coronavirus,” he informed.

“Similarly, two persons– a 76-year-old woman and a 77-year-old male, both residing at Tonca-Caranzalem; while a 45-year-old woman from Neugui Nagar and a 25-year-old person staying near AIR, Altinho-Panaji have tested positive,” the mayor stated.
