Goa IMA provides tele-consultation to 4,200 COVID patients


Panaji: The Indian Medical Association (IMA)’s Goa branch has provided tele-consultation services to around 4,200 asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic COVID positive patients in the last 30 days who have availed the option of home isolation.

Around 150-doctor members of IMA have volunteered to provide the services free of cost to the COVID patients.

IMA-Goa president Dr Samuel Arawattigi in a statement issued here informed that of the 4,200 patients, 48 of them were shifted to different COVID-related health facilities including Margao-based COVID hospital and Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim after their health condition slightly worsened.

The IMA doctors have been also actively monitoring the patients in their paid quarantine facilities.

“The statistics are a testimony of the yeomen service doctors of IMA Goa state has provided in the past one month in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic. We are thankful for the moral support extended by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, Chief Secretary Parimal Rai and Secretary Health Nila Mohanan,” Dr Arawattigi said.

Dr Arawattigi also expressed his gratitude towards doctors from Indian Dental Association for supporting their project.
