AAP hits out at Vishwajit over ‘Storm is Over’ remark

Panaji: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), on Friday, said that the peak of COVID-19 pandemic in Goa is not over, but just beginning now, and the lack of empathy of the Health Minister, Vishwajit Rane is putting lives of more and more Goans in danger.

Strongly condemning the statement made by Rane on the COVID-19 situation in Goa that the “Storm is Over,” the AAP spokesperson and in-charge of ‘Goans against Corona’ campaign of the party, Rahul Mhambre said that the Health Minister should understand that the storm is not over, and it is just beginning right now.

Rane, while attacking AAP’s public initiative, ‘Goans against Corona’ had said, “After the storm is over, somebody comes to you and tell you, we will help you.”

“Is the storm over when we are seeing cases increase every day,” Mhambre questioned, further quipping, “Is the storm over when patients are unable to find a bed anywhere in Goa and when COVID-19 patients are lying on the floor of the Goa Medical College and Hospital?”

Mhambre also stated that the attitude of Rane is putting more Goan lives in danger, as also he is completely out of his depth in dealing with this pandemic.”

He observed that Rane’s remark on the ‘Goans against Corona’ campaign is arrogant, and he should leave aside politics and work with everyone in the battle against the pandemic. The AAP leader maintained that on one hand, the Health Minister is questioning Delhi model of handling COVID, while on the other seeking immediate results of AAP’s campaign against the virus.

He further welcomed the decision of the government to provide thermometer, oximeter and masks to the COVID-19 patients undergoing home isolation, even though the step has been taken very late.

The AAP maintained that all must work together to defeat the coronavirus pandemic, irrespective of political party they belong to and differences among them.
