New Delhi: Yasir Shah struck thrice in quick succession after lunch and Shadab Khan picked up the last two wickets as Pakistan bowled England out for 219 on Day 3 of the first Test at Old Trafford in Manchester. Pakistan now lead by 107 runs.
Yasir first cleaned up Buttler for 38 and then got Dom Bess and Chris Woakes. Shadab Khan who got the only bowled 3.3 overs in this innings picked up the wickets of Jofra Archer and James Anderson to wrap up the England innings.
England lost Ollie Pope for 62 but Jos Buttler weathered an intense examination from Pakistan pacers to keep his side afloat on the third morning.
The hosts reached lunch on 159-5, still 167 behind but considerably better placed than they might have been given the quality of the Pakistan bowling.
Buttler took 26 deliveries to add to his overnight score of 15 and scored just three runs in the challenging first hour, but reached the lunch break at 38 not out alongside Chris Woakes.
Pope had been the home side’s best hope as they slumped to 92-4 on the second day, scoring exactly half of the runs to sit on 46 not out overnight.
