Panaji: The COVID-19 death count rose to 61 in the state on Tuesday with five more patients succumbing to the deadly virus in the last 24 hours.
As per the information provided by the directorate of health services (DHS), the five new COVID fatalities include a 79-year-old woman from New Vaddem, a 54-year old man from Calconda-Margao and an 80-year-old man from Gogol, Margao.
The fourth fatality is a 29-year-old man from Altinho-Panaji, which is the first COVID death from the capital city. The fifth victim, who died due to COVID late Tuesday evening, is a 63-year-old man from Farmagudi, Ponda.
The DHS has said that all five patients had co-morbidities and they died while undergoing treatment at the Margao-based COVID hospital.
