Yet another spike of 286 new COVID cases in Goa




Goa reported 286 fresh cases of COVID-19 on Monday, taking the tally of confirmed cases to 6,816.

This is the second highest single-day spike after 337 cases were reported on Sunday, which has been the highest single-day spike till date.

According to the health bulletin issued by the directorate of health services on Monday evening, 208 COVID positive patients have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours.

Out of total confirmed cases, 1,884 are active while 4,876 people have recovered till date. The bulletin further said that out of 3,248 samples, 1,979 were found to be negative and reports of 983 samples are awaited.

At present, the number of patients in isolation wards is 57, while 64 persons, who have tested positive for the dreaded virus, are quarantined at various residencies and hotels across the state.

Majority of the active COVID cases in Goa have been reported under the jurisdiction of urban health centre of Vasco – 390 cases, followed by 312 active cases under the jurisdiction of the primary health centre of Cortalim. The urban health centre in Margao has 120 cases; the PHC Chimbel and the PHC Ponda have recorded 104 and 102 cases, respectively within their jurisdictions.

Except Bicholim, the jurisdictions of all other five community health centres have seen a slight rise in the active cases on Monday compared to Sunday. The community health centres from where the cases are

emerging in the state include PHC Bicholim (10), Sankhali (46), Pernem (22), Valpoi (46), Curchorem (23) and Canacona (8).

Active cases in the other urban health centres on Monday include 68 in Mapusa and 79 in Panaji.

The cases of COVID-19 that are also emerging from the jurisdictions of primary health centres include Aldona (22), Betki (16), Candolim (51), Cansarvanem (6), Colvale (33), Corlim (28), Chimbel (106), Siolim (11), Porvorim (42), Mayem (6),  Balli (53), Cansaulim (30), Chinchinim (8), Curtorim (46), Loutolim (32), Marcaim (24), Quepem (21), Sanguem (13), Shiroda (29), Dharbandora (30), and Navelim (32).
