Ponda: Expressing concern over the rising number of COVID 19 cases in the Marcaim constituency, former PWD minister and MLA Sudin Dhavalikar, on Thursday, demanded that Adpai and Gaune, where maximum number of COVID cases have been found, be declared as micro-containment zones.
Dhavalikar said, “In Adpai, around 27 COVID cases have been found recently, and there are 35 houses in that area, which are in close proximity. Considering it, micro-containment zone in that area is necessary. While in Gaune, 17 COVID cases have been found, and in that area too villagers live in close proximity. Taking note of the same, I have urged Deputy Collector to declare both the areas as micro- containment zones.”
Speaking further, he assured necessary help to the villagers in the areas from the MG Party.
“Besides these areas, 2 cases of corona virus are found in Wadi-Taluali area, and testing of surrounding people has started,” he informed.
Meanwhile, speaking further, he said, “State government has received around Rs 1,061 crore from the central government as GST return, and from that government should pay sugarcane farmers immediately and settle their issues. Sugarcane farmers’ issues and their dues are pending for a long, and as the government has received some funds, it should pay the farmers, who are in trouble.”
Further, Dhavalikar urged the state government to take Sanjivani sugar factory under Agriculture Department and revamp its functioning by brining central government fund for agriculture projects. This will give a new lease of life to the sugarcane farming in the state.
Commenting over the meeting with the former MLA Kiran Kandolkar, Dhavalikar said that Kandolkar had visited him on Wednesday with a plan to start a new party and he has offered him best wishes.
“People upset with BJP and their movement are trying to do something new, and Kiran Kandolkar is one of them,” Dhavalikar said.
“Though floating a party is not that easy as it seems, Kiran Kandolkar can do well if he focuses and works accordingly,” he added.
When asked about MGP’s plan to take Kandolkar in the party-fold, Dhavalikar said, “Nothing much was discussed regarding that, and entry of new people in the MGP will be decided in December 2020.”
