Arlem containment zone: health officials identify close contacts of positive persons

Health officials from Loutolim Primary Health Centre (PHC), on Friday, conducted a survey of residents at the Arlem containment zone along with the local panch and police officials and identified the close contacts of the COVID cases for swab testing.

“There are around 300 residents in the area. We conducted a survey and shortlisted the close contacts of the positive people. Since the area is now contained with barricades by police, it will be easy to control the spread of the virus,” said health officer of the Loutolim health centre Dr Vinesh Gaonkar.

On Thursday, 17 new COVID cases were found at this Arlem area, and that had forced the district collector to declare the area as a containment zone.

In all, 21 COVID cases are found at this thickly migrant-populated area of Arlem hillock.

Meanwhile, two more COVID cases have been found – one at Sonsoddo-Raia and another at Kirbhatt, Nuvem within the jurisdiction of the Loutolim Primary Health Centre.
