Margao: Cuncolim MLA Clafasio Dias, who had tested positive for COVID-19 last week, has now been shifted to the ICU in the ESI Hospital in Margao, which has been designated as a COVID-19 hospital. He is stable and responding well to treatment.
Speaking to this daily, COVID district coordinator Dr Ira Almeida said the MLA has been responding to the treatment being provided to him and is stable.
“Yesterday, we had to shift him to the ICU because of breathlessness, but as of today, he is stable. He is continuing to receive assisted oxygen and is stable,” she said.
The MLA had tested positive for the dreaded virus and was shifted to the COVID hospital a week back. Three members of his family have also tested positive for the virus.
Dias had visited the South Goa District Hospital last week after he developed fever. After testing positive for COVID, his contacts including members of his family and supporters were subjected to COVID test.
Two days after being admitted to the COVID hospital, the MLA had posted a message on social media thanking his supporters and well-wishers for their prayers for him. He had said in the message that he was doing well.
According to his supporters in Cuncolim, on Monday, the MLA was complaining of breathlessness following which he was shifted to the ICU where he was provided assisted oxygen supply. They had also been told that he was responding well to the treatment and that his condition was improving.
