Goa sees 77 fresh COVID-19 cases


Panaji: Goa witnessed 77 fresh positive cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, while 111 patients were declared cured in the last 24 hours, according to the health bulletin issued by the directorate of health services (DHS).

With the death of 72-year-old Mormugao civic body councillor, the tally of COVID deaths in the state has touched seven.

According to DHS, the state currently has 1,761 confirmed cases out of which 818 are active. A total of 936 patients have recovered from the disease.

Out of the 2,253 samples drawn for test, 1,812 have tested negative, while 77 are positive for the virus and reports of 364 samples are awaited, says the bulletin. Presently there are 14 patients in isolation ward, while there are 54 persons quarantined at various residencies and hotels

in the state.

According to the health bulletin, the 818 active cases include 109 persons who have travelled to Goa either by road, rail or air, while Mangor Hill has 175 cases and 257 cases are linked to the area. Curtorim has reported ten cases, 18 cases detected in Margao, while 18 cases are linked to Ambelim. A total of 14 cases have been detected in Quepem, five in Loutolim, 28 cases reported at Indira Nagar in Chimbel and two in Navelim. Ten cases have been reported at Ganganagar in Mapusa, while Sankhali has 42 cases, Camara Bhat, Tonca (7), Canacona (9), Fatorda-Margao (2), Porvorim (3), Raia (2), Kundaim (1), Verna (7), Ponda (19), Valpoi (8), Marcel (5), Usgao (5), Vaddem in Vasco (1), Shiroda (7), Pernem (10), Pilar (3), Goa Velha (5), Betki (2), Sanguem (3), Cortalim (6), Cuncolim (5), Sal in Bicholim (4), Mandur (2) and Curca/Shankar wadi (4).

One isolated case each has come to light in Pirna, Mardol, Taleigao, Nuvem, Agacaim, Caranzalem, Dharbandora, Majorda, Thivim and Curchorem, according to the DHS bulletin. The areas from where the most number of cases has been reported are Sada-Vasco (67), Baina (72) Curtorim (31), New Vaddem-Vasco (59), Chimbel (52), Zuarinagar (98), Morlem (22), Khariwada (31) and Balli (23).
