In view of the rise in COVID19 cases in the state, a joint review meeting for Bardez taluka was held on Monday in Mapusa.

The meeting was presided over by the Minister for Ports Michael Lobo.

Lobo instructed administration, health and police departments, to make public announcements in every village besides Mapusa, and to strictly enforce the norms for the prevention of further spread of COVID 19.

The meeting which was presided over by  Lobo was attended by Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza, Tivim MLA Nilkanth Halarnkar, Siolim MLA Vinod Paliencar and Aldona MLA Glenn Ticlo; Saligao MLA Jayesh Salgaonkar and Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte did not attend the meeting.

Officials, including deputy collectors, Bardez mamlatdar, joint mamlatdar, DySP, police inspectors of different police stations, and health officers were present.

Lobo while addressing the media after the meeting in presence of MLAs said that with the cases increasing in the state, we have called for a review meeting to decide on the measures to be taken to control the spread of virus.

“Every panchayat, using a rickshaw, will make announcements, appealing to the people to wear face mask, wash hands, not to shake hands and instead to do ‘namaste’ as preventive measures “said Lobo.

He further said that he has asked the police to book the vendors who are not wearing face mask, under Section 188 and also those who are moving at public places without face mask.

Lobo said, “Situation in Bardez is under control as we have limited cases, and now, we have to work to  control any further spread of the virus by following the laid down norms.”
