Panaji: The state government has received Rs 162 crore as share in central taxes for June, 2020. Sources in the finance department said the amount of Rs 162 crore received for June 2020 is less than the amount of Rs 177 crore received for May 2020.
Goa was entitled to Rs 250 crore for this month. However, due to less revenue collection at the national level, the Centre sent Rs 177 crore and Rs 162 crore for May and June respectively, the sources explained.
It is pertinent to note here that the Centre is yet to release the backlog of goods and services tax compensation share of Rs 750 crore owed to the state.
At a video conferencing conducted earlier this month, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to clear the GST backlog, as the state has been going through a financial crisis.
Meanwhile, the state finance department on Monday released Rs 50 crore for disbursal of financial assistance to the beneficiaries under the Dayanand Social Security Scheme and the Griha Adhaar scheme. Sources said that approximately Rs 27 crore has been released to the social welfare department and Rs 23 crore to the women and child development department for disbursing doles to the beneficiaries of the DDSS and the Griha Adhaar scheme respectively.
