A positive case of COVID-19 has become a worry for residents of Salvador do Mundo, however, reports of 3 persons, who were tested for COVID after a positive case came to light in the village, have come negative.

Dr Sikhandar Talwar, in charge of Porvorim health centre, when contacted, confirmed about the one positive case stating that this person had travelled from Delhi.

However, the health staff conducted test of all 3 persons who had come in contact with the positive person and their reports have come negative.

Meanwhile, the sarpanch of Salvador do Mundo Sandeep Salgaonkar has written to the Porvorim police regarding people from other areas coming in groups in the village to hang out along the ‘patto’ stretches.

Speaking to this daily, sarpanch Sandeep Salgaonkar said that “our village was free from COVID-19, but after flights started operating people have also started returning to their villas and bungalows and that is how one positive case has been reported.”

“I have instructed the Porvorim police to take action against people who come in cars and hang out at the four pattos in the evening and morning time, however, the police have failed to act inspite of my reminders,” he claimed.
