Avoid convening meets, govt tells housing colonies

With lockdown 4.0 starting from May 18, the government on Sunday issued an advisory appealing all the housing colonies and gated residential complexes in Goa to refrain from convening meetings in their private spaces.

The advisory, issued by District Collectors, states, “In case of acute requirements such meetings are to be held with necessary precautionary requirements of social distancing, face cover, hand hygiene and such other instructions and guidelines issued by the department of health from time to time.”

The advisory has been issued following increasing complaints as regards chairmen and secretaries of housing societies convening meetings in their premises and not adhering to corona pandemic-related guidelines issued by the health authorities.

Although Section 144, which is presently in force in the state does not cover private areas like housing colonies and farmhouses, a top government authority informed this daily that these guidelines need to be followed by one and all in public health

The advisory has also been sent to the police department, director of panchayats and director of municipal administration for implementation.
