Goa police show solidarity with ASI Harjeet Singh


Panaji: To show solidarity with ASI Harjeet Singh of Punjab police whose hand was chopped off in a brutal attack during the lockdown earlier this month, the Goa police, on Tuesday, dedicated the day to Singh for his dedication to duty while fighting the war against COVID-19.

As a part of this gesture, all staff of the Goa police reported to duty with name tags of Harjeet Singh, informed SP Shobhit Saksena.

“Rightly today, all of Goa police represents #IamHarjeetSingh”, said Saksena.

He informed that through this gesture, Goa police is paying a tribute to all corona warriors.

“May almighty give strength to all corona warriors and succor to mankind from this deadly virus,” he said. Goa police also posted on its social media account the photographs of police official wearing name tag of Harjeet Singh. Goa police has dedicated the day to ASI Harjeet Singh of Punjab police as a tribute to the untiring efforts and the indomitable spirit of corona warriors across the world in overcoming this deadly pandemic, reads the post of Goa police in support of the campaign #MainBhiHarjeetSingh. Punjab police on Monday had launched the campaign #MainBhiHarjeetSingh in solidarity with police and doctors who are attacked during this period. According to the information, earlier this month Singh’s hand was chopped off with a sword in a brutal attack by assailants after they were stopped at a picket point at a vegetable market in Patiala.

Singh’s hand was subsequently reattached by doctors after a long complex surgery and he is recovering, said the police officials.
