Betul coastal security police tighten surveillance


Margao: Betul coastal security police station has tightened surveillance along its coastline and has undertaken on Thursday awareness campaign at major jetties appealing fishermen and those residing in and around the vicinity of fishing jetties and beaches about the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).

Police inspector of Betul coastal security police station, Navlesh Dessai said that his staff and other officers have conducted on Thursday awareness campaign on Covid-19 and made several announcements over safe distancing measures to be taken.

He said that police teams visited Betul, Talpona, Cutbona, jetties besides at Palolem, Pollem, Agonda, Rajbhag-Tarir, Canacona and other places requesting fishermen, crew members and others to take precautionary measures and adopt social distancing. 

Coastal security police are keeping a close vigil to stop unauthorised entry of fishing boats from other states, he said. Police personnel are continuously patrolling in their jurisdictions using the boats. He said that as there is no fishing activity going on it is easy for us to identify any boat operating in the area. Vigil has been intensified at the landing points.

“The campaign is aimed at bringing in awareness on Covid-19 threats and the way coastal populace can help in tackling the challenge besides various

safety precautions to be taken by fishermen,” said PI Dessai.
