A total of 36 samples have tested negative for the coronavirus (COVID-19), giving a sigh of relief to the health authorities and people of Goa.
The samples were tested at the newly set up virology laboratory at the Goa Medical College and Hospital.
Of the 72 samples, 36 were tested negative while the report of remaining 36 is still awaited.
Twenty patients suspected of having COVID-19 are currently in the isolation ward of the GMC. The twenty patients include one new suspected case of COVID-19 reported in the state on Monday.
Till date, Goa has seen 120 suspected cases of the viral virus.
On Monday, 70 more passengers were placed under home quarantine; around 1262 people have isolated themselves at their homes in the state.
At present, six persons have been quarantined at the sub-district hospital in Ponda, 23 persons have been quarantined at the Margao Residency and eight people at the Old Goa Residency. One person has been quarantined at sub-district hospital, Chicalim.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane informed that the government has requisitioned International Centre Goa, Dona Paula as another quarantine facility to ensure proximity to GMC.
Meanwhile, the directorate of health services in a notice issued requested the people who had returned to India by cruise ships or Oil Rig, after March 8, 2020 to report to the nearest health centres and get screened for COVID-19.
The DHS has appealed to all such people also to report to helpline number 104 or call on 0832-2421810 / 2225538.
