Prabodhan Education Society’s Vidya Prabodhini College of Commerce, Education, Computer and Management, Parvari organised a state-level workshop on ‘Academic Writing Support Services and Web 2.0’. The workshop was attended by a total of 54 librarians and students of library science from different colleges, higher secondary schools, high schools and institutions.
Chief guest at the workshop was national vice president, Vidya Bharti, Dilip Betkekar. Also present was chairman, Prabodhan Education Society, Prabhakar Bhate, resource person, Munesh Kumar; librarian, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Farmagudi, Sukhaji Naik; vice principal of the college, Nitesh Naik; principal, MR Patil, and secretary of the workshop, Sunny Pandhre.
Addressing the gathering, Naik explained the broader objective of the workshop in benefitting librarians. While Betkekar during his inaugural address recognised the important role of librarians in meeting the teaching and learning needs of teachers and students. He informed that librarians are the leaders of education and they have to continuously upgrade and update themselves to meet the present day requirements. He further said: “When we learn, we do not earn and when we earn we do not learn. People should have an urge to learn something new. We spend a substantial amount of our income on entertainment and other things but spend a very negligible amount on education. Librarians have to reach out to the unreached.”
During his technical session, Munesh Kumar shared useful knowledge about important components like plagiarism control and citation, publication of e-books, internet-based learning applications and writing, and collaboration tools. Kumar also discussed various internet-based learning applications. Several doubts and queries of participants were explained and cleared as part of the session.
