Dy CM: will make new Hospicio Hospital functional soon




Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant  (Babu) Kavlekar, on  Saturday, said  that  the government will make functional the much awaited  new Hospicio  Hospital at the earliest and added that the Chief Minister  Pramod  Sawant is  laying emphasis on the health sector  and the education sector, and this is  evident from the  budgetary provisions.

Speaking as the chief guest at the  silver jubilee  function of the  Hospicio Health Services  Employees Co-operative Credit Society Ltd,  held in Margao,  Kavlekar said, “The government wants to start the new Hospicio Hospital at the earliest. This was discussed during the last cabinet meeting and all  the ministers are of the opinion that it should be completed on a priority. The Chief Minister has made provision for it in the  recently presented Budget. He has laid emphasis on the health and education  sectors and is of the opinion that there should be no compromise on these two sectors.”

He praised the society members for achieving the milestone  of completing the 25 years of the society.

Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat  said  that “many a co-operative credit societies could not complete 25 years. But this society members toiled hard and worked in tandem to achieve the goal.”  

“The Hospicio has a history and a  good background. When I was the Chief Minister, I found many files pertaining to the Hospicio Hospital properties that  are spread all over Goa. The shares of  the Hospicio are in many top leading companies which many does not know about. There are share of  Hospicio in  Karachi  electrical company. I often  speak against the  Hospicio, on patients’  point of view, but  today, we have to congratulate it for its cooperative credit society is doing a pretty good  job.”

Dr Ira Almeida, medical superintendent of  Hospicio Hospital  praised and thanked the   society for lending its help for the Hospicio by donating some important  equipment.

The chairman of the  society Dr  S Bhatt  welcomed the gathered people. On the occasion, the former directors and members were honoured.
