Panaji: Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) Goa has contributed Rs 25 lakh from its CSR funds for the construction of an indoor sports hall at VD and SV Wagle High School, managed by the Mangirish Vidyadayini Samstha.
“The generous sponsorship is part of LIC’s golden jubilee foundation activities,” said Vikas Rao, zonal manager, western zone on Thursday.
He added that the newly-constructed sports hall is for the benefit of the students as it would aid in career building. Advising students to play indoor games in the sports hall, he pointed out that LIC is fully involved in social development.
The inauguration was done in the presence of Muraleedharan and Prasad Dasgupta, regional managers (marketing), western zone, Sanjay Dayal, senior divisional manager, Goa division, Arun Desai, chairman, Mangirish Vidyadayini Samshtha, Mitasha Aigal, headmistress and other members of the school trust.
LIC has completed 1.62 crore policies with a market share of more than 74 per cent as on November 30, 2019. In the current financial year, the corporation earned new premium income of Rs 39778 crore.
As of March 31 2019, the total life fund of LIC stood at Rs 28.28 lakh crore with an asset base of Rs 31.11 lakh crore. Meanwhile, the Goa division is showing a growth of 16 per cent in new business (policies). It has a customer servicing base of 11.54 lakh policies.
