Attack on Afghan student: 2 more held


Panaji: The Panaji police have arrested two more accused persons on charges of allegedly stabbing an Afghan national along the road at Dona Paula. Police are on the lookout for one more accused person in the case. The two accused have been identified as Desmond Fernandes (29) and Suresh Megeri (20), both are from Taleigao. Earlier the police had arrested Satish Nilkanthe (29) from Caranzalem. The accused are currently in police custody. Matihulla Aria (24) was allegedly stabbed with a weapon and he is currently recuperating at a private hospital, police said. Aria is a 1st year student (Mcom) at the Goa University. The incident had occurred on Sunday evening. The police said that the accused Nilkanthe along with others allegedly assaulted Aria after they entered into in an argument over a petty issue. Police had registered FIR under IPC Section 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means). PSI Akshay Parsekar is investigating the case.
