Reviving tradition

Taj Holiday Village Resort and Spa recently unveiled The Showcase, a concept multi-brand store that promotes and supports various forms of arts and crafts of India. The objective is to strengthen the voice of India using luxury, as a powerful agent of change.

The concept shop exhibits fashion, textiles, beauty and wellness products, accessories, jewelry, home décor, tribal arts from India and much more. The range includes Uzbek ikat, khadi, pashmina, antique silver jewellery, handmade clutches, juttis, barware, organic skin care and more.

The store is an extension of The Luxury League, a not-for-profit foundation launched by Ritu Beri. The foundation aims to enhance brand India, globally by reflecting all that is distinctly Indian and authentically unique. The foundation works to create a consortium of decision makers, artisans, craftsmen, corporate global brands, consumers as well as the government on the same platform to reimagine the connotations of luxury in an Indian context.

Speaking on the occasion, general manager, Taj, North Goa, Anmol Ahluwalia said: “At Taj, we believe in reviving traditional forgotten art and supporting Indian artisans. It is hence an honour to join hands with the iconic designer Ritu Beri who shares our philosophy with the launch of her flagship store in Goa. Furthermore, this store will offer our guests and patrons a new experience in fashion and lifestyle.”

In her address, Beri said: “My desire is to open the doors for bespoke Indian brands to showcase their talent to a larger audience, globally thus create an increased pool of knowledge and competence through arts and craft. This is true luxury.”
