Dhavalikar appeals to agitate for saving Mhadei


Mapusa: Former PWD Minister and senior leader of Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) Ramkrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar has appealed to all Goans to come together to agitate to save Mhadei river keeping aside all differences. Dhavalikar was interacting with media persons on Monday at Mapusa after taking blessings of Lord Bodgeshwar.

Dhavalikar in presence of Bharat Toraskar, ex-Mapusa block president, Eknath Mhapsekar, Shripad Yende, Premanand Divkar, Mapusa Youth president Shubham Toraskar along with Bodgeshwar temple committee president Anand Bhaidkar and others members, said, “Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party will hold awareness rally on Mhadei issue which will commence from Sattari taluka. The rally will also cover constituencies in Bicholim, Bardez, and Tiswadi through which the River Mhadei flows.”

Stating that effect of diversion will be witnessed on Opa water treatment plant which will stop functioning, Dhavalikar said, “The situation at Opa water treatment plant is such that the water level goes down in January then what will be fate during summer. If river water is diverted then saline water which is 500 metres away from the plant will enter and the plant will stop functioning.”
