St Michael’s Convent High School, Anjuna-Vagator hosted its annual sports day, based on the theme ‘Sports for Healthy Living’.
The day started off with rendition to the Almighty through prayer and song followed by a specially composed theme song ‘Tap up to healthy living’.
The chief guest for the day was the director of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Jennifer Gonsalves and the guest of honour was an ex staff member, Evaristo Fernandes. The superior general of the congregation of the Holy Family of Nazareth, Sr Alvita Gurjao; Sarpanch of the Anjuna Village Panchayat, Savio Almeida also graced the occasion.
Gonsalves unfurled the school flag and declared the sports meet open. The colourful march past and torch relay of sports personalities added aura and grandeur to the fascinating meet, splashed with enchanting displays from pre primary to high school involving mass student participation.
The highlights for the day were professional display of occupations, yoga, karate, pyramids and float depicting ‘No to single use plastic’. This was entailed by the races. The zealous parents gathered in large numbers and constantly applauded the young sports stars.
