EDC Ltd along with Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education organised a session on ‘Entrepreneurship awareness amongst students’ for higher secondary teachers at EDC House, Panaji. The session was attended by EDC chairman Sadanand Shet Tanavade, director EDC Dr Purushottam Pednekar, Goa Board chairman Ramkrishna Samant and its secretary Bhagirath Shetye.
Twenty conveners of the Board of Studies (vocational courses) from all over Goa, also participated in the discussions on strategies to inculcate a spirit of entrepreneurship among students at the Std XII level. The conveners related success stories of some of their students and also listed out opportunities that needed to be made available for various vocational streams to empower student entrepreneurs.
EDC chairman Sadanand Tanavade, while addressing the gathering, assured that EDC would do its utmost best and collaborate with Goa Board in creating awareness and encourage students to take up entrepreneurship as a career.
Carlos De Sa, joint managing director (EDC) spoke on the various self-employment schemes of EDC especially its most popular CMRY Scheme that had created almost 8000 entrepreneurs till date. Orlando Mascarenhas, general manager (EDC) explained facilities available to startups at the EDC Incubation centre ignite, which recently increased its capacity from 78 to 100 seats.
