Tourist taxi operators ‘appeal’ to AAI for scrapping entry, exit fees

The tourist taxi operators, on Saturday, submitted a memorandum to the officials of Airport Authority of India (AAI), demanding exemption from entry and exit charges levied at the Dabolim airport.

As asked by the AAI, tourist taxi operators from all over Goa, including yellow black taxi operators presented a memorandum to the AAI officials, giving their suggestions and grievances with respect to the entry and exit charges levied by the AAI by appointing a contractor.

“The state exchequer is not benefitted by the charges taken by the contractor. Dabolim airport should not be considered to be a market. There is a need to put a system in place in right manner. There is a lot of confusion at the airport as there is no proper system in place,” said Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginald Lourenco.

Lourenco alleged that the tender for collecting fees has lots of discrepancies and it needs to be scrapped immediately. “Dabolim airport is ill-equipped with facilities, especially, parking and because of that the entry and exit fees for all types of vehicles need to be scrapped in the interest of the taxi operators and people at large,” he added.

The tourist taxi operators have appealed to the AAI to scrap the entry and exit fees at the earliest.
