Derrick, Keona bag gold


Panaji: Goa’s Derrick Menezes came first in both the races in the Windsurfing Masters and clinched gold in the 75 Knots Regatta 2019 surfing tournament held in Dona Paula on Sunday. Local lad Keona Ranjani made a thrilling comeback and won all three races in the Techno 293 Youth Category to bag a gold.

Dayne Coehlo on the other hand remained unstoppable as he made a clean sweep in the all 12 RS:X Olympic Class races to be crowned champ. With this performance Dayne has proved his credential to represent India at the Olympics in 2020.

Sunil Ranjani of Goa was also impressive in the Windsurfing Masters category has he came third to clinch a bronze.

In the Raceboard junior Pearl Colvalkar from Goa took all 3 guns to take the gold comfortably with Adarsh Chunekar taking the Silver.

In the 470 class Ayaiz Shaikh and Upkar Singh beat the challenge from PP Muthu and SC Singha to clinch the gold while Atul Lende and CHS Reddy came third.

Akash took both the guns on the last day to beat Santosh Banoth for the gold in the Laser Radial Class.

In the Laser 4.7 U-18 category Durga Prasad Erra of Naval Boys Sports Company took gold beating Sannya P of EMESA Hyderabad. In the U-16 category, Sanchita Pant of Mumbai representing EMESA won the gold.
