GSM to sound poll bugle in Panaji soon

Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM) will declare names of the candidates for the Lok Sabha polls on March 31, revealed the leader Subhash Velingkar.

Addressing media persons in city on Wednesday, Velingkar said that GSM has started campaigning in Shiroda, Mandrem and Mapusa and will start electioneering in Panaji once election notification is announced by the Election Commission of India on by-polls adding first phase of campaigning will be completed on April 10.

While criticising the menace of wooing voters by distributing money and gifts, he said that booth-level meetings have been held in all the three constituencies adding popular and winnable candidate will be fielded in Panaji and the name would be announced very soon.

Velingkar alleged that the BJP has cheated Goans on mining, CRZ, Mhadei water issue, employment and kept many people on tenterhooks on many development projects in the state and betrayed the people.

Velingkar condemned Wednesday’s political development and horse-trading going on in the state and creating of a split in a regional party who had been part of the coalition government for decades.

Velingkar maintained that it is demeaning for a national party like BJP to stoop to such a low, that in order to protect its self interest it has engineered breaking of the regional party to strengthen its coalition government, which Goans never expected.

Velingkar said that now the BJP is trying to cash in on the popularity of late chief minister Manohar Parrikar, who died recently adding, “it will never be able to enjoy the benefits of Parrikar’s political popularity.”

GSM will never approach the BJP, the very party which is banking on other regional parties and trying to strengthen itself. He said that he is sure that the BJP one day will face backlash from the new entrants.
