HDFC Bank recently set up online payment gateways for residents of Curti-Khandepar and Siolem-Sodiem in association with the respective panchayats. The launch at Siolem-Sodiem was by Jayesh Salgaonkar, minister for housing, Krishnakant Pangam, block development officer, Bardez, Milton Marques, sarpanch, Verla Canca, Sylvester Fernandes, ex-sarpanch Siolim Marna; and Nilesh Vaigankar, sarpanch, Siolim Sodiem along with Neville Noronha, cluster head, HDFC Bank. While the online payment gateway for Curti-Khandepar village was launched earlier during the month by Rukma Khandepar, sarpanch along with Samir Lotlikar, HDFC Bank.
At present residents of both the villages make tax payments physically at the panchayat office through demand draft, cheque or cash, which is a time-consuming process. However with the introduction of the online payment gateway they will now be able to pay taxes online and use multiple payment options such as debit card, credit card, or net banking. Speaking about the progress made in online banking, Ajit Dalvi, circle head, Goa, HDFC Bank said, “We feel privileged to be chosen as a partner for this initiative. This is a big step in the evolution of the payment mechanism and will help fast-track payments.”
