Chennai based, Bhagwan Mahaveer Foundation has called for nominations from Goans for the 22nd Mahaveer Awards. Individuals who are Indian nationals and institutions are eligible for the award. Winners will be selected by a panel of eminent personalities headed by Justice MN Venkatachaliah, former Chief Justice of India. The Bhagwan Mahaveer Foundation, since 1995, has been bestowing the Mahaveer Awards on personalities and organisations in recognition of their excellence in propagation of non-violence and vegetarianism, education, medicine and community service. The awards in each category carries a cash prize of Rs 10 lakhs, a citation and a memento. Apart from the regular four categories, the foundation has included a new category for woman social entrepreneurs or achieves. The last date for receipt of the nominations is July 31 2018.
