2 burn to death as Goa-Mumbai bus catches fire at Kolhapur


KOLHAPUR: Two passengers were burnt to death in a fire, which broke out in a Goa-Mumbai private tourist bus at Gaganbavda-Kolhapur National Highway of this district, early Friday morning.

Police sources said when a tourist bus of Atmaram Travels was on the way to Mumbai from Goa around 3.30 am near a Mahadev temple on Gaganbavda-Kokhapur National Highway, it caught fire due to a short circuit in the air-conditioning system, killing two passengers on the spot while 17 others were rescued from the burning bus.

A total 19 passengers and other bus employees who were in the vehicle succeeded in coming out safely, police said.

The deceased were identified as Bunty Raj Bhutt (24) and Vickiy Madam Bhutt(23), police said.
