SALIGAO: Calangute Veterans got the better of Chinchinim Veterans 4-1 on penalty shootout and entered the semifinals of the All Goa Veterans Soccer, organised by Saligao Sporting Club, at Saligao grounds on Sunday. The well-contested encounter saw a number of yesteryear stars rub shoulders against each other. While Calangute had Bruno Coutinho, Augustin Dias, Narendra Gaad, Allywn, Fausto Lobo and Dominic DSouza in their side, Chinchinim fielded Mahesh Lotlikar, Mario Soares, Denzil Ferrao and Jerry. But despite the presence of so many stars, the teams failed to break the deadlock in the regulation time, prompting the result to be decided on penalties where Allwyn, Fausto, Narendra and Daniel scored on target for Calangute Veterans, while only Alfred Fernandes could score for Chinchinim Veterans.
