Samsung is back with another flagship phone – The New Galaxy Note7, which was announced at its Galaxy Unpacked 2016 event in New York earlier this week. The phone comes with a 5.7 inch quad HD super AMOLED curved edge display with a resolution of 2560 pixels × 1440 pixels and always-on feature. Powered by a Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8 Octa 8890 processor (as per the market), the phone runs on Android v6.0 Marshmallow. It has refined craftsmanship, quality materials and a unique symmetrical edge design. With a smaller pen tip and increased accuracy, the Galaxy Note7 replicates the ease of accuracy or a real pen as compared to any of the previous galaxy model. It is the first in series to be water resistant. The new Screen Off Memo along with the Always On Display feature enables users to remember important events and tasks. The device’s usability has been expanded with new air commands like Translate and Magnify. S-Pen also features new pen styles and brush types to help users unleash creativity.
Galaxy Note 7 has a IP68 rating which marks it as dust and water resistant up to 5 feet for nearly 30 minutes. The phone has a 12 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and OIS while the front-facing camera is 5 megapixels. The dual pixel rear camera promises brighter and sharper images, even in low light conditions. Besides having fingerprint scanner, the phone has an iris scanner too and lets one unlock the phone through eye recognition. This automated process uses mathematical pattern image recognition of an individual’s iris, either single or both eyes. Samsung is also looking forward to bringing iris scanning technology to its mid-end smartphones when the cost of using one reduces.
Connectivity options of the phone include WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, MIMO Bluetooth v4.2 LE, ANT+, USB Type-C, NFC, and Location (GPS, GLONASS and BEIDOU). The phone has a 3500 mAh battery which supports both wired and wireless charging. Galaxy Note 7 will be available from August 19 in blue coral, gold platinum, silver titanium and black onyx.
