PANAJI: The government, in all probability will promulgate an Ordinance before the forthcoming three-week monsoon session of the state legislative assembly to be held in July, later this year, for regularising the unauthorised structures and encroachments in Goa prior to February 28, 2014.
Coming out with this information before a group of pressmen, the Chief Minister on Tuesday said that the government has sought the clearance of the law department as well as advice of the state Advocate General for promulgating the particular Ordinance. “We are working on it,” he said.
It may be recalled that the government could not table The Regularisation of Unauthorised Structures and Encroachments Bill, 2015, during the budget session of the state legislative assembly, earlier this year.
Government, by way of the Ordinance does not intend to regularise each and every unauthorised structure and encroachment in the state, but study every case before providing the structure with legitimacy.
Replying to a question, the Chief Minister said that he would seek information about the complaints that the schools located at the Cujira Integrated Educational Complex are charging money from their students for their transportation in the Kadamba buses provided by the government. “The schools are supposed to provide free transport to their students,” he noted, observing that these schools may have hired additional buses apart from the one or two Kadamba buses provided by the government to them, due to their high student strength.
Speaking further, Parsekar said that on higher level, the state government is seeking use of the central government land at Cujira so as to ease the traffic involving school children studying in the educational complex.
Answering another question, Parsekar who holds the education portfolio said that the education department annually issues a circular to the aided schools against demanding donations from parents. “I will direct the department to issue such a circular immediately,” he added, stating that the parents should not agree to pay donations to those schools, which are involved in underhand dealings.
