Padre Conceicao College of Engineering organised a national level industry-institute meet ‘AARUSH 2016 – Lighting the Future’. Principal, PCCE, Luis Mesquita along with director, Agnel Technical Education Complex, Fr Peter D’ Souza addressed the gathering.
Regional head, Academic Interface Program, India West at Tata Consultancy Services, Mumbai, Gaurav Gandhi delivered a keynote address on the skills for being industry ready in the digital world. His talk provided students and teachers with a new dimension as to how to go about honing skills related to communication and technology.
Various talks were held for students of respective departments. Senior manager, Oracle India Private Limited, Bangalore, Suresh Narayan addressed students of departments of computers and information technology on software in silicon in the new Oracle M7 processor. Founder, Vacation Labs, Saurabh Nanda addressed students on ‘how to land your dream job’. Tech lead, Fidel Technologies Private Limited, Pune, Muktar Kanaskar spoke on IoT for smart grid and smart cities. Senior scientist, Philips Innovation Campus Bangalore, Shrutin Ulman spoke on ‘from vision to reality: The innovation process in biomedical engineering’. Project director, Under Water Ranges, Indian Navy, commodore K L N Chary spoke about underwater communication: opportunities, threats and challenges. Consulting advisor, Exide Industries, Tulsidas Bannerjee discusses productivity enhancement, opportunities and challenges for engineers and industry and manager, Plant and Piping Engineering L&T, Vadodara and ex-PCCE, Siddesh Samant spoke on overview to projects in oil and gas industry.
The bi-annual magazine of the college ‘Newsline’ was also released at the event. There was a panel discussion on ‘Innovative and Best practices in engineering that will help bridge the gaps between Industry and Academia’. Panelists included CEO, Kallows and ex PCCE student, Gajanand Nagarsekar; senior manager, Netzsch, Goa, Sachin Mirajkar and head of HR, Persistent Systems Limited, Pallavi Desai. Issues addressed included innovation of engineering syllabus, honing of competencies, internships and placements, scholarships, entrepreneurship, change in attitude of the students, qualities and skills for hiring and bridging the gap between academia and industry.
Fifteen alumni from the first batch of 2001 who have achieved entrepreneurial success were felicitated. The programme was attended by over two hundred PCCE students, faculty and industry personnel.
